Description

Standing 6'1" with a rangey build, this dark skinned man has incredibly light gray eyes. His black hair halos around his head in a riot of springy black curls, that are often home to feathers or bits of down. Aiden's expression is often intense and focused. When he smiles it lights up his face and makes him appear boyish. He doesn't have a particularly muscular build but neither is he skinny. He has the build of one who spends time outdoors, but does not devote his life to physical training. His hands are home to a lattice work of scars from raptor talons.

Personality

Aiden is a young man of few words, which are often laconic when they come. It isn't that he hates people, it's just that he prefers the company of his birds. Birds are easy; look at how their feathers move to gauge their moods. People, on the other hand, have far more subtle cues that he doesn't fully grasp. He likes people well enough, but often finds himself confused by what they say and do. The nuasances of subtle emotions go over his head. That isn't to say he wouldn't understand that someone is sad if they were crying-- he would. He might just not understand that someone is mad if they were smiling but also expressing anger verbally. He is genuinely kind, and somewhat gentle in nature but can be firm when handling his birds if he needs to.

Background

Aiden Grayson is the middle child of Daniela Bisland and Rodric Grayson, born around eleven months after Ainsley and thirteen before Ailys. He is neither as rash as his older brother nor as calm as his younger sister. Much to his parents' dismay he also did not become the politician they were hoping for. It isn't that he did /try/. Aiden did try to be the statesmen they wanted. But by the age of ten he knew he just didn't understand people. Why do they frown like that when saying happy things? Why do they look angry when saying something nice? Why do faces do the things that they do? Faces are weird. People are hard. Aiden doesn't get it. It isn't that he doesn't like people-- he does. He simply prefers the company of his birds because words are frustrating, and people are frustrating. Birds are easy.

At the age of eleven he discovered The Mews at the Bastion, and fell into falconry. It was something to distract him from the frustrations of his studies at the time. Over the years, however, it became his passion. He understands birds in a way that he does not understand people.

He adores his parents and wishes he could have been what they wanted, but like his older brother he chose to walk his own path-- and that was to become a falconer.
