Hailing from the richest lands in the Mourning Isles, Jovarn has the unfortunate distinction of being one of the few noble-born in living memory to have been cast out from his house and reduced to a common life. Originally a child of the Grimhall family, Jovarn was betrothed at a young age to a young noblewoman of a wealthy family; as he grew older he resented the forcefulness with which he was lead towards marriage, and many other things about his family and their way of ruling, that by the time he was twenty years of age he was given a choice: Marry and produce children, or be exiled and disowned. So for the last eight years Jovarn has been travelling the Compact, from the halls of the Redrain to the dockyards of the Lyceum and everywhere in between. Drinking, singing, and bedding as often as he likes.

Not a tall man by any definition, Jovarn is a creature of eager energy that seems to radiate all around him making him feel bigger than he really is. His lean, athletic build only enhances his effervescence as he almost always walks with a veritable bounce in his step. Upon his head his thin, dark hair has been kept short at the sides but allowed to grow on the crown, allowing it to bounce freely as he walks. His upper lip is blessed with a thin handlebar moustache, that is perfect for twirling, additionally a narrow, pointed soul patch sits beneath his lower lip. Tanned skin stands in stark contrast to his pale grey eyes, with his long and narrow nose rounding out his appearance.

Jovarn seems to live in a colourful, sensual world, inspired by connections with people and ideas. An out-and-out extrovert, Jovarn is often found to be spontaneously breaking into song and dance in the heat of an exciting moment. Though quick to snap a barbed retort, Jovarn is effortless in his generosity with his time and his energy. A born entertainer, Jovarn is utterly social and will chat to anyone about anything with an earthy wit, endeavouring to make everyone feel smarter, more charming, and all-around better simply from being around him. A strong aesthetic sense prompts Jovarn to take great pride in his appearance and grooming and though he isn't afraid of having a well-appointed home, or a keen eye for fashion, Jovarn is keenly aware that the world does not revolve around him. Taking great strides to be ever helpful and observant, with a great sensitivity to the emotions of others Jovarn is always happy to provide emotional support and, if able, practical advice. The main weakness of Jovarn's personality is that he is so often focused on the immediate pleasures of the moment that he will neglect the duties and responsibilities that bring about such luxuries. Complex analysis, repetitive and mundane tasks are not easy activities for him.
