Description

Gabriella is a young woman of classic Setarcan stock, standing about 5'6" high, her piercing blue eyes and golden mane of hair usually bound as to not get in the way of battle. The Pravosi woman looks relaxed most of the time, and is easy to smile, even if sarcastically, but any purposeful movement reveals lean muscle underneath her sun-kissed skin, speaking of years of practice and exercise.

Given her occasional blemishes and minor scars, the most prominent being a long, thin one running along her left hand and past her wrist, it's obvious Gabriella's been out and in her fair share of scrapes. Her youthful features wear them like badges of honour, a storm behind her eyes hinting at the utter madwoman she becomes when joining the fray in the battlefield.

Personality

The leader of the Swords of the Evening is an extremely loyal and sinister woman whose brand of humor is dark at best, more prone to crack a joke at the expense of the dead than over someone slipping on a banana peel. A veteran of many battles, she has seen more things than most would be able to take, the perspective war has given her making Gabriella a collected demeanor that is, as sharp as any Pravus'.

The only times Gabriella seems to let herself go are in the battlefield, where she is clearly in her element, cutting down her enemies with silent glee. A creature of passions, she is often at her most raw when smeared in blood.

Background

Gabriella is the oldest daughter of Tiberio Pravus, a Sword of Setarco who, during his life, was known for his skill at arms and unbriddled lusts. Educated as a Suspire, the courtiers unique to Setarco, Gabriella would have had a different life if not for a deadly malady that took her in her early years. Despite all the efforts of House Pravus, and the mountains of silver offered, no physician gave Gabriella a chance.

Her mother, Lady Aurora Pravus, would not have it.

The headstrong woman gathered her personal guard and rode out of the Silken City and would not return for three weeks. What happened there nobody knows, but the fact remains Gabriella returned sleeping soundly in her mother's arms, resting peacefully for the first time in months. She was cured, a miracle, and Lady Aurora never spoke of it again.

From that point forward a fire lit up in the girl, and the shy wallflower died to give space to something far more magnific. She and her sister Lucrezia were wild together, and Gabriella would forego becoming a Suspire for a newfound desire to fight, to live a life of adventure. The sisters planned their future together, and while Lucrezia took to her father's roguish side, Gabriella shaped into a mighty knight of her family.

Reaching her seventeenth birthday, the whole family was there for her knighting by the Duke Piero himself, and before the court Gabriella became a knight of Setarco. The glorious moment was one she would never forget, and one of her last truly happy memories, for in the same festival she was graced the titled of knight, her father and liege would be assassinated, and she would lose her sister, thanks to the Argento family.

The remainder of the House had no real option but to fight back. Viviana would become Sword to protect the new Duchess, the inexperienced Bella, and Gabriella set her eyes on the field, her father's men, the Swords of the Evening, eager for war. Consumed by a desire for revenge, Gabriella was the Duchess instrument of retribution, and in the war against the Argento there was none as cruel or violent as the daughter of Tiberio, something that earned her the title The Butcher's Daughter. The Swords of the Evening watched many times as the woman seemed to shine her brightest when covered in the blood of nobles of Nilanza.

War washed her father's honor, but it put a stain on Gabriella's soul. She has become more of a recluse in Setarco, and some say her disease, the one that almost took her life when younger, has returned, but the knight does not confirm or deny it. In the field she looks as healthy as ever, a deadly sin, so what gives?
