Daya grew up poor and proud in the Lower Boroughs. While she is not a criminal, there may have been a rogue or two in her family, and she is no stranger to the company of the city's least privileged. Her father is a sailor and her mother is a washerwoman, but age is catching up with them and Daya does her best to help stave off starvation for her five younger siblings who still live at home. She works as a barmaid and is seldom found in the city's finer quarters.

Daya carries herself with a certain carefree air. While she is easy enough on the eyes, she lacks the refined grace and powdered beauty of noble ladies, looking every bit like the lower borough wench that she is. Her figure is ordinary, the product of a life without excess, but she bears it with a breezy ease that manages to catch the eye. She is most often found wearing the trappings of a barmaid, and her glib, shallow charm is right at home in the taverns.

Vivacious and spirited, she is used to the rowdy environs that raised her. She has quite a temper and would not fare well amongst aristocrats, but she is shrewd enough to be aware of this. Knowing little of the world outside of Arx, she is more concerned with the goings-on of the city and is generous with gossip. She's got friends in low places and an attitude that matches such a life.
