"Dour," "stoic," and "stiff" might all be good descriptors used by anyone meeting Rukhnis for the first time. They might be equally applicable the second, third, fourth, and all the other times, with the possible addition of "proud," "reticent," and perhaps "morose." Whatever she really thinks and feels, she isn't often much inclined to talk about it. When she is, it might be better if she wasn't, as she can be extremely blunt and judgmental. On the other hand, in general she seems inclined towards courtesy and even kindness, in an extremely formal way. She has a strong personal code of honour, and her loyalty towards anyone whom she feels has earned it knows few bounds. She is also quite intellectually curious, and harbours a carefully guarded love of poetry, dancing, and flowers.

"Intense" is perhaps the best word to describe him, and the reasons for this have changed over time. No longer just the cold-eyed falcon driven to fixation on his obsessions that came to the city, Thomas seems to carry a blazing passion that can't help but shine through his eyes and often transforms his countenance entirely. He's a cerebral sort of man who can be found contemplating works of art or the city's shrines, or perusing private literature collections and the Archives, all with the same awe and reverence. Paradoxically, while he can often be very private, he encourages intimacy and warmth wherever he can, and likes to jest -- even if these are almost always rich with the sort of gallows humor one might expect from a long-time soldier. He is not given to hiding his emotions but prefers to wear them on his sleeve, and this is often his weakness; especially sensitive for him are the Oathlander chivalric ideals he romanticizes and tries to uphold, even if he can be shockingly pragmatic at times...as most men of the Hundred Cities are.

%T Noble, in a word. Lissa's actions generally fall somewhere between foolhardy and outrageous, with an overwhelming tendency to leap headfirst into the aid of others. Outside of conflict, though, she's fairly calm and friendly, a bit on the skittish side of things without erring into shyness. The chivalric ideals of the Valardin people are held on a pedestal in her eyes, and almost all of her actions are in some way motivated by the romantic tales that spread by mouth amongst the commonfolk.

%TKyden is obsessed with her art. It is her family. Her one true love. It's more important than her own well being; more important than anything else ever known. Above all, there's the sculptures she creates. She is obsessive about them, and when she finishes one, she immediately starts another. As if searching for some answer in the clay. Unfortunately, for someone so poor, sculpting is a rather expensive hobby. And she funds it through any means necessary... %TAt times, Kyden is callous; near emotionless. When she's not manically working on her art, she can seem almost eternally bored - but in an odd way, that she sort of enjoys. A nihilistic contentment with the quiet, doomed mundanity of human life. Her personality is a cycle. She puts it all into her art, energetic and insanely focused, before falling into a state of lounging, unproductive despair; almost similar to some kind of withdrawal. When it comes to her own art, she is never satisfied with the results. %TThere is something of a wall around Kyden's heart. She is guarded, and wary about getting close to people. But to her friends - those who break through the dismissive boredom - she is fiercely loyal. %T

'Angry' would have been an ample and descriptive word for Sinhoc before becoming a member of the clergy. He had a short-fuse initially, which gradually dwindled through seminary training as he became 'closer' to the Pantheon and their worship. Some of his ilk might refer to him as having been brainwashed by the system as a result of his almost 180 personality switch, but Sinhoc knows all to well what he is doing, and firmly believes in the power and will of the Pantheon. A perfectionist when it comes to his own abilities and actions rather than others, he can tend to obsess over himself in an effort to improve. This may come across as being full of himself or self-important but his intention is always to make himself better. To play his guitar with more skill. As one might expect of both a Lycene and a skilled guitarist he is a charming and suave man. Quick with a witty reply or a smooth remark. Though common, he has spent his life amongst the nobility of House Fidante and it shows in his refinement, grace, manners, and charisma.

Cambria can also appear aloof, even distant, leaving others to assume she is without concern or care. Time spent in her company, however, reveals a woman who is actually quite attentive.

In addition to being goal oriented, she's pleasant, cheerful, and outgoing in a way that matches the rest of her focused drive when she's not lapsing into quiet bouts of melancholy. A bit of a firecracker, she spent years having to repress her natural inclinations. Now that she's been freed, Swift tends to let those tendencies shine through. This has given her a bit of prickliness about her heritage, making her proud but simultaneously uncertain of her own worth in some lights. She holds a grudge, and polishes it like some might steel. She is quick to laugh and cry, her emotions worn on her sleeve. With minor slights, she can be incredibly forgiving, but anything that reflects poorly on her personal sense of honor is unforgivable. A dour, reserved man, Jourdain Wyrmguard listens a great deal and speaks comparatively little. This is perhaps reflective of a personality which prefers to observe, process, and think about the knowledge he gains from the world around him in great depth before coming to any conclusions. Many people would call this kind of person "humorless," but Jourdain is not without his own brand of humor; it's just so dry that most of the time it flies by unnoticed as humor at all. Typically calm and even-tempered, he is difficult to ruffle, though it is an open question whether that indicates deep bravery and valiance, or simply a chronic lack of desire to get worked up about most trivial matters. Despite the hardships encountered, she's less hardened, but takes life seriously, knowing at any time it could be over. It's given her the mindset of living each day as if it were her last, appreciating the good things when they come - while still expecting the worst - and enjoying life to the fullest with no regrets. She's scholarly and bookish, more at home in libraries and educational institutions than on the battlefield, but when duty calls? It's when the traditional Lyonesse peeks through. Neither warrior nor socialite, she's not particularly socially adept; rather, she's terribly awkward and - at times - painfully shy when it comes to people. A honey-tongued cousin of the social Donatti brothers, Alexio and Andreas, Alrigo has an independent streak in comparison to the rest of the family. He knew when he arrived in Arx, and after making his first casket of silver, that he needed more. With the family's earnings taking a hit from the distant branch of the family, this left with Alrigo the mark of doing what he needed to in order to bring in casket-after-casket of silver to develop him into being a driven entrepreneur. He is quick to laugh, pearl-white teeth often on show as he talks his way out of problems. Being around Arx and the dockyard, he has begun to play the game of politics and learning whose hand needs to be shaken to get that shipment in. There is that swagger, that smile, that makes avoiding him near impossible when he sets himself to it. A ship is considered the ultimate weigh of balances. Supplies to crew. Space taken by necessities, and how much personal affects are allowed. All must be accounted for, and the keeper to be held accountable. Life is a mere extension of this. Too much flotsam and the man struggles beneath the weight, too little preparation and he flounders. There are times when she would rather suffer in silence than ask for help, which means there is a very stubborn and persistent side of her personality that rears its ugly head whenever she is frustrated or upset. She doesn't necessarily lash out when she is in a bad head space, but she does choose to be alone to avoid conflict. Whenever she is feeling nervous or anxious, she is nowhere to be found. Passion and verve, vivacity and drive: life defines Katryn, a buoyant wellspring of it, surging warm from the depths of her heart, undampened by reality. She loves, and she loves hard: glory, honor, the gods, the world, she _loves it_. She is not without an understanding of the darkness of the world, for she is a knight and a soldier first and foremost, and innocence dies quickly upon the battlefield. But she is a woman of dawn and hope, for whom victory _is_ the battle fought. A principled idealist with a warm strain of compassion and mercy well at hand, Katryn is stubbornly sunny, applying a considerable raw force of willpower to problems -- paired with a powerful imagination that has rarely failed her in situations where it became likely it was time to think 'outside the box'. For stiffly honorable nobles wishing to gravely discuss solutions to the Realm's woes, the duchess never falters in presenting a kind and stately diplomatic veneer. Privately, she might laugh at the notion that she is described as 'kind' or 'sweet' or any other like terms, when it is strictly business- she believes full well that doing small injuries and petty slights are among the quickest ways to gather enemies for no good purpose, and Esera does rather little without purpose. In private she is still every bit as charming if far more wicked, but even without her public mask on her games of manipulation do not cease. She's outgoing, and entertaining on and off the job, she genuinely seems to enjoy meeting others and learning about them? even when there is nothing to gain from it (but it's so much more rewarding when there is).

  • A pretty redhead who quietly relishes bein
A pretty redhead who quietly relishes being put into her place as kindly as she was by life and her new family's kindness. Her former anger has mostly dropped away, left with a bewildered woman trying to figure out who and what she is in the grand scheme of things. Fiery under the surface, it rarely comes out. She's got a sunny disposition most days, but has hidden from her anger in shyness. It's something she's eager to break, but this new world she's navigating is frightening to her.

  • A quiet and somewhat reserved man, Lawrenc
A quiet and somewhat reserved man, Lawrence has spent quite a bit of time away from mainstream society, and is a bit overwhelmed taking it all in. Despite all of that he remains friendly, courteous, chivalric, and curious. Always willing to learn, and even more willing to help out. He has always been a man of combat, but hopes to be more of a friendly teacher in his old age, but nothing would ever keep him from fighting for his family if they needed it.
