A list of all pages that have property "Background" with value "Reyna's family name probably isn't Stone, but it's the only one she has. Her early childhood is only remembered in bits and pieces; it's enough to know that there was a before, but the details are lost to time. For all practical purposes she grew up a bandit, her "father" abandoning city life for a series of groups that never quite lived up to his expectations. While her role was typically that of bait, she learned to defend herself (mostly from the bandits) at a fairly early age and got better from there. She had to, to survive those years. There were a *number* of things that she had to do, to survive those years. The important thing was that she did survive. She was never particularly happy being a bandit (though she went back to it quite readily after the few weeks she spent as a tavern maid), but she discovered eventually that she vastly preferred bandit to much of the other business they eventually got into as she and her father took up with a 'professional' group that had more of an agenda than 'easy way to keep my belly full'. It became readily apparent that they were in over their heads the first time she tried to leave and was advised that death was the only way out. The second time, her father ratted her out, and while there was a very stern warning (very stern), she did manage to avoid being killed. That she tried a third time made it clear that she was not the most brilliant log in the fire -- save that she actually managed it (through no fault at all of her own). It was a power struggle. Of course it was a power struggle. She'd been a little less than entirely respectful (maybe more than a little), the boss (a merchant with noble aspirations after the wealth to make it happen) was proving to her just who was in charge. She'd never had to kill anyone, but she was sent (with a couple of handlers) to kill someone she knew. It did not take her long to decide she would not do it, but when she turned on her handlers it did actually surprise them. It surprised them enough that she survived and they did not, though the surviving was more related to the doorstep she landed on rather than any significant skill. When she actually came to (something which surprised her) she met Jayeth Black. He patched her up and looked after her, dealt with the thugs that came after her. When that was the last they heard of it for a span of weeks, she started to get worried. She had not quite managed to convince Jayeth that they really would be coming back when...they did. Returning from the market one afternoon, they found the smithy midst burning down. For all that she was still recovering, they ultimately fled. And fled, when their pursuit caught up with them. And fled again, when once more they were chased. It was a thoroughly unpleasant couple of months. It was not until they reached Arx that the pursuit stopped -- or, well, stopped as far as she can tell. She is entirely out of her element, but she owes Jayeth. A lot.".
