Description

%TWith a lush, full head of smoke-grey hair and a rich beard, Manox looks like most people's kindly elder relative. His visible disposition is somewhere between friendly and mysterious, his mannerisms a touch on the quirky side; a subtle twitch here, a genial laugh from nowhere there, a cough without obvious sign in between. He stands somewhere above six feet, looming over many, with broad, full shoulders. His wardrobe runs to the functional, given his obvious occupation as an apothecary, with his robe truncated at the midthigh region, a wide belt keeping it separated from his pants, which have several large patches, yet not for repair purposes; if anything, they look as if they have either coins or something similarly sized and shaped sealed inside of them - it probably makes sense to apothecaries, perhaps.

Personality

Enigmatic, experienced, wise: Manox has become the mirror image of the man who trained him in the arts and sciences. Where they diverge is on the concepts for romance, courtly matters, and war. He's a moderate in most measures, a social drinker, and keeps a very tight grip on secrets, both those discovered and shared with him. If there's ambition to be found, it may be beneath several layers of otherwise-inscrutable quirks, proof of his careful displays of personality.

Background

Manox's parents surrendered him for adoption by their neighbor, the apothecary who had promised to save them, leaving him as proof of a promise broken and obliging him to do better. In time, the illness which struck Manox's parents was cured, treated at great expense, and the man who did it had the decency to name the treatment not after himself, but them, the victims who made the most impact in his life. The next ten years were spent on the move, following other similar illness outbreaks, with Manox learning both the ways of the world as well as medicine. In time, he overcame his teacher's knowledge, arriving at a grand college with open eyes and an eager mind. Upon graduation, he entered the markets as a traveling apothecary, saving up to afford himself a shop to call his own. Some of the journey, he'll not speak of easily; rumors persist he was a camp follower, maybe more, of some army or another, and bad things happened. In any case, while he's silent about some of his life, he's verbal about his future. Sometimes, he took on students - meeting them, it may be refreshing.
