Dayton's Trade

While Dayton maintains the inner workings of the family business on a broad scale, like much of the Grace family his day to day is focused more so on his own craft. In the golden-haired islander's case, tanning and leather work. Dayton prides himself on his dye work the most, calling forth vivid colors and bringing to life usually dull tones from the leather swatches and pelts he treats. Secondarily, he maintains a series of customized pattern presses arduously carved to bring a flair of personal style to his work.

Customized Commission FAQ

Q. What is a customized commission?
A. A customized commission is a piece of armor or clothing requested by the client with particular specifications and customization implemented per the client's description of the piece. Dayton currently does two different types of customized commissions. Patterned Commission and Full-Customization Commission.

Q. What is the difference between a Patterned Commission and Full-Customization Commission?
A. A "Patterned Commission" includes a fully text based description for the item along with minor ASCII additions and color, the in-character explanation is Dayton utilizes existing patterns he's already created and then alters them based on the client's request. A "Full-Customization Commission" includes a text based description with minor ASCII and color additions as well as a link to a colored piece of costume concept art drawn specifically for you (examples below), the in-character explanation is Dayton creates completely new patterns and builds the piece from scratch... hence why "Full-Customization Commissions" are much more expensive than their patterned counterpart.

Q. How do I commission Dayton?
A. Contact Dayton in character!

Q. What happens after I let Dayton know IC that I'd like to commission him?
A. The commission process begins. Your character will meet with Dayton and let him know what they are looking for. This includes a basic description of what colors and design style they want. From there, Dayton will send a messenger including a price quote of how much the item will cost with and without materials included in case the client would prefer to provide their own materials. If the price looks good, the client sends Dayton cost of materials (or materials themselves) and 50% of the quoted manufacturing cost. Next is the "fitting" in which "Patterned Commissions" would get a preview of the text description and "Full-Customization Commissions" would get to see the prelim sketch for approval. Once the item is complete, the client delivers the rest of their payment and the item is transferred to them.

Q. Up to what level of material can Dayton work with?
A. Dayton can currently work up to exotic leather.

Q. Does Dayton accept Economic Resources instead of silver?
A. Not at this time, but he will in the future.
