He grew up like most do in the north learning how to fight and protect his family. He was taught all the survival skills necessary to make it on his own in the wildness. One day when he was around twelve years of age he set off with a group of friends for a spring camping trip. While the snow never truly melts in Whitehold, the spring is at least the sign of the beginning of a thaw. A time when traveling out in to the world becomes possible again. Unfortunately, Tavish and his friends we caught up in a freak blizzard that swept through the mountain passes with a vengeance. They were lost in the drifts for nearly a week. Of the five of them that set out on their trip, one of which was a Halfshav cousin, only Tavish returned. His cheerful smiles were dampened by the tragedy and loss after that week. He doesn't like to talk about what happened in the snow. After what happened, Tavish put up his swords and adventurous tendencies and decided to dedicate his life to the service of others. He learned how to keep an orderly house and serve nobility. No chore too low, no task too demanding, Tavish learned to do it all. He served as valet in the Halfshav Estate in Whitehold for nearly a decade, learning to love the family as his own.
