Every copper he made off plunder went back to his family to pay off the debt in hopes to free them from Thralldom. By the time he was an adult, he was a seasoned veteran, and no one could mistake him for a soft man. It wasn't enough, however. He freed his mother, but his father was still deep in debt when he passed. When they came back from a raid, he heard the news. Some sort of farming accident, it seemed. What happened next, Skapti never would have imagined from a group of hard bitten killers. Rather than lose their comrade to Thralldom himself, each of them offered up the lion's portion of their own share and bought out his freedom. The luck was too good. The next raid they set out on was disastrous. It had been bold, perhaps too bold, but it had had to be to be profitable. To make up for his freedom's price. Almost to a man, they were slaughtered, and Skapti barely mananaged to escape himself, eventually finding himself in Arx. Since coming to Arx, the man has worked a slew of jobs, going work is available, some legit and some... Less so.
