Description

Amongst a world of beautiful women, the exotic shades of Fatima's features make her stand out. Her dusky skin, rich and smooth, harkens to a land of sun and sand. The almond shape of her eyes, and the sleek slant of her nose give one pause, rarely seen amongst the Arvum peoples. The rich seafoam green of her eyes, however, give clear indication part of her enchanting loveliness also comes from her mother. She carries herself with the typical grace expected at court, offsetting her exotic roots when necessary, her elegant feminine form always poised and clothed well. Her smiles illuminate the best parts of a person, and woe be unto those that invoke her rage.

Personality

Fatima takes the world in stride, for she know it will be hers one day. She hasn?t decided what that means yet, but it gives her the confidence to twist and influence those around her, to whatever end she decides that day. It?s not quite out of cruelty, but she often has trouble understanding the motivations around her, since hers tend to be so fluid. She enjoys people however, and sees the world as her very own gameboard. She can be compassionate, kind, and generous, when her motivations dictate, and she does so sincerely then. She is unafraid to use her feminine wiles, but, perhaps, does so with much more discretion than someone from another House may be. Being Thraxian, however, likely makes her better at that sort of game, since it is far more difficult to be successful and not be made to disappear.

Background

Many would expect Princess Fatima Thrax to be a depressed, somber young woman, haunted by her tragic upbringing. She is more than willing to let anyone think that, and then take advantage of that perception with shameless abandon. The ambitious and ruthless granddaughter of Donrai Thrax certainly would have ample justification to have turned out meek, considering the execution of her father and the banishment of her mother, but perhaps she inherited far too much of the spirit that doomed her parents combined with her grandfather's calculation. Fatima's mother, Princess Marjory Thrax, was no proper Thraxian woman in the eyes of Donrai Thrax. With far too much interest in sailing, Princess Marjory defied her father by accompanying a daring expedition to sail east to the rarely contacted continent of Eurus on a perilous voyage. Worse in the eyes of Fatima's grandfather, not only did Marjory have the temerity to succeed, but she returned with a husband, married without permission of her family, to the exiled Prince Asad of Petrioch, a royal fleeing a lost war of one of the distant Dune Kingdoms of Eurus. Prince Donrai Thrax had little choice but to recognize the marriage of the royals as Marjory was already with child, but it proved short lived- Prince Asad was found complicit in the plotting of the Tyde Rebellion and was executed by House Thrax, and Princess Marjory Thrax was all but exiled, married off to a Lord of House Pravus and unwelcome to the family.

Fatima, however, is not bitter that she never really knew her parents. The half-eurusi princess was spoiled constantly by the many servants of House Thrax who sympathized and had loved Princess Marjory and Prince Asad, and she quickly learned how laughably easy it was to twist those sympathies to her own ends while seeming an utterly proper Thrax princess. As the princess grew, sometimes tutored in politics by her heartless grandfather, she saw the awe and sheer respect granted to the highlord by all of his vassals and quickly realized how vulnerable many of those same men were to deft manipulation. And oh, did she grow deft. A true princess of Thrax could never wield political power directly, of course, but why would she ever need to do so? The games are so much more entertaining with her controlling the pieces indirectly.
