The Tale of Sir Nutwel Oakley

The tale of Sir Nutwel Oakley and his companions is a literary classic known throughout the Oathlands, beloved by children and adults alike.

Sir Nutwel Oakley: One of the greatest and most revered heroes of the Oathlands is also one of the smallest. Sir Nutwel Oakley may have come from the most humble origins of a common squirrel, but he rose to become a paragon of chivalry and valor, who, as the epic tale goes, undertook a dangerous quest to find a cure for his patron and dearest friend, Princess Amalthea Valardin, when she fell gravely ill from a very poisonous assassination attempt. Throughout his journey, Nutwel ceaselessly defended the weak, aided the helpless, and demonstrated that even the lowest born may possess the very noblest of character, capable of making every bit of difference in even life and death situations.

Dame Sweetcakes Brightfur: This honey badger knight is a gentle giant, known her joviality and indomitable will. Legend says that it is impossible to physically budge her once she digs in her heels, and she can be mentally as stubborn. Typically sweet tempered unless she is hungry, she's been known to gnash through logs when her blood sugar drops. To dish out a sound smackdown is to "go Dame Sweetcakes" on someone.

Mercy Harriet von Fontebras: Healer extraordinaire, this hummingbird is very much the proverbial mother hen, making sure everyone is well taken care of. Easily distracted yet somehow able to get done what needs to be done, and done well, many question if the high energy, mini Mercy ever sleeps. Would you like more soup? You should have more soup. Here is more soup.

Sir Ripley Waters: Treefrog troubadour knight, who is pensive, poetic, and ever ready to leap into the fray.

Queen Amaryllis: Honeybee queen of the kingdom of Cloverfield (which presumably is in Laurent lands), Queen Amaryllis is a wise and beloved ruler.

Oathlands Food and Drink

Note: Not exhaustive or official, please add your own! Claims of "the best" are obviously subjective.

• Bacon (produced everywhere, primarily Telmarch): Valardin bacon is primarily cooked to a crisp, like American bacon.
  
• Blancbier toast is the equivalent of French toast.
• Chocolate (Blancbier, Wyrmguard): Blancbier is noted for its chocolates, in dark and milk varieties; especially hot chocolate
  
• Honey, Honeymead (Laurent, Artshall): Artshall produces the best honeymead in the Compact in various varieties. It is quite strong.
  
• Lamb, Mint Jelly and Mint Products (Blackram, Cloudspine): The shepherds of Cloudspine make amazing sheep products and the mint jellies to go with them!
  
• Nonalcoholic Beverages (everywhere): Since many Oathlanders don't drink, we also make great soft drinks such as tea and apple juices and ciders.
  
• Tobacco (Telmar, Valardin): Tristram is a fan of Valardin-produced tobacco, often smoked in cigarillo form.
  
• Scotch (Wyrmguard): In addition to their decadent chocolates, Wyrmguard is renowned for their fiery brand of Scotch.
