Description

This young man has seen his share of battles--evident not from scars, but in the way he walks. Some old war wound has made its mark on this man's gait, leaving him with a slight, perpetual limp. Otherwise, he looks healthy and vibrant, with a fair complection and slimly athletic build. His features have a certain statuesque quality, marred only by an extended furrow in the skin of his jaw that seems to have been caused by the passing of a blade. His hair is a sleek, dark mahogany, his eyes a variegated gold-and-emerald green.

Personality

Confident, sometimes to excess, Ciaran has the devil-may-care attitude of someone who lives life exactly the way he wants to, on the schedule that best suits him. He doesn't have much patience for rules and procedures, and he's not going to sit around at a boring function if there's more interesting things to be done elsewhere. For all that, though, he is very polite and has a strong sense of honor and fair play. His sense of humor is extremely dry, and he's not the sort to shy away from confrontation, be it on the battlefield or in a ballroom. In fact, he might be just a little too competitive.

Background

Born a lord of House Farshaw, Ciaran never show any interest in ruling: instead, his mind was fixed on adventure. While Farshaw might not boast much in the way of a war navy, Ciaran always managed to make an impact bigger than the military resources he had available--developing a reputation as an able tactician and intrepid explorer. Be it against barbarian tribes or long-lost settlements of the Abandoned, he showed a knack for moving through the far places of the world. There, he made both friends and enemies. In the Gyre war, he showed particular gallantry.

Unfortunately, it was in that conflict, at that moment of triumph, that his life took a turn. Suffering a terrible wound to one of his legs, a wound that seems to have been in some part spiritual as much as physical, Ciaran now must live with a perpetual limp, and never fully regained his martial prowess. For a time, he bounced around the far corners of the map, and perhaps some places beyond its borders. Whatever obscure place he got off to, he has at last settled in Arx, where he intends to represent his family and support the ruling lords.
