Description

Bright blue eyes, the first thing you notice on this young man no matter how casually you glance at his face. Though beautiful, they seem sad, lost, as if he had done or seen something that still haunted him. Glancing to the rest of his face, you see beautiful symmetry that only the genetically gifted attain. His jaw is firm and his lips inviting with a small, sad, smile lingering on them. His hair is a golden blonde color, a touch of honey over straw that hangs down just past his jaw. Often he can be seen moving a strand or two back out of his eyes since the cut is the sort of careless kind with a wild mane that only youths without a care for decorum possess. Hazarding a guess, he is probably somewhere in his mid 20's. The man is about six foot and maybe an inch more if measured. His build is well muscled and lean with no bulky muscles but instead the slender build of someone who focuses a lot on cardio and sword play.

Personality

Vandorean is mercurial with giant melconcholies causing him to drink himself into a stupor or partake in other more dangerous pursuits. Other times, he is a flurry of energy and excitement for whatever challenges wait before him. Damn it all if someone tells him that he CAN'T do something. In addition to his stubbornness, he is also prone to acts of rage that cause him to fly off handle at minor slights which he often deeply regrets latter on. Van is all of these things and none. His passions constantly mold and shape him as he tries to fix his regrets and better his life though the cycle of improvement and regret that seems to constantly repeat itself.

Background

Vandorean, the firstborn son of a branch of the Laurent family tree, was a troubled child. Even at a young age his mother noticed her son's talents. He was fast, intelligent and had a voice for singing that rivaled the birds. His father was a great military leader of some renown who was hardly ever at home. Instead, he spent most of his time campaigning or in Arx. His father's absence became a point of resentment for the boy but also a point of great pride and a goal for him boy to attain. His mother, capable though she was, often found the young boy uncontrollable and willful. Yet somehow, he managed to grow up into a fine young man despite being just a little rough around the edges. Van quickly took to the military way of life. Discipline and honor were things of his father; things he aspired to possess. He quickly learned the skills of combat, far before he learned the rules of chivalry or of command. Regardless, he was more than capable on the field, with a mind for tactics and a penchant for the daring. This last quality was something that the men serving under Captain Vandorean Laurent were not too keen on and the consequences were disastrous. One day on a mission, Vandorean took a chance, deciding to seize an enemy encampment rather than call and wait for reinforcements. His entire company was decimated and the few that survived all bitterly rebuked their commander to his superiors. Van took the blame and resigned his commission. He turned his focused on becoming a knight in order to follow in the footsteps of his father and hopefully help him become a better commander. Yet he has not changed much. The mercurial young man is still there and though he has learned that actions have consequences. However, knowing Vandorean, it's quite possible that won't be his last disaster.
